Extortion by Towing
Tow truck drivers win my Lowest Form of Life award today, those scum sucking fellows/folks who earn their bucks (and apparently get off on) holding people's property hostage.
I live in a townhouse. My door is on one side; my car is on the other. When I have to take a weekend trip, I have to load my car. (I'm sorry, am I being remedial? I'm just trying to make this story easy to follow for the not-so-bright Tow Truck Driver who held my car hostage this afternoon.) When the weather is nasty, or I need to hurry, I do what most human beings would do, I pull my car closer to my door.
I am conscientious. I leave the emergency flashers on. I pull as close to the curb (which is NOT ALL YELLOW, I SHOULD POINT OUT), and I load as quickly as possible. However, when NATURE calls, I do not pull my car back to my driveway before heeding that call. Is that lazy? It's expeditious in my world, but clearly not in Tow Truck Driver Boy's world. Because in the space of about three minutes, he brilliantly but incorrectly deduced that my car was "parked" in a fire lane. Nevermind that the back glass is up. Nevermind that the flashers are flashing. Nevermind ANY of that, because Tow Truck Boy has no conscience and probably no "soul" either (for all you believer types out there). This man is JUST MEAN. He just wants to FOUL UP other people's lives because HE CAN. Because he Has To Earn Money.
This man is a perfect example of what I say when I call my species a VIRUS. Completely oblivious to his surroundings containing OTHER PEOPLE. On one mission and one mission only. Bent on Making His Buck, even if he has to screw innocent people over to do it. In fact, Mr. GLP of Sergeant's Towing, seems to ENJOY his job very much.
So back to my Tow Truck Boy story ... he deduces that "parking" thing because THE KEYS ARE NOT IN THE IGNITION. Thus my car is unattended. (I begin to see why certain people have certain jobs, because they are TOO STUPID to have OTHER jobs.) Now, in my world, leaving my keys in the ignition would make ME the Stupid Person. However, not in Tow Truck Boy's world. Apparently, I have more to worry about from HIM than I do about car thieves. (That sounds about right to me, actually. This man is a NIGHTMARE.)
So in less than 10 minutes, this man is on my car like white on rice. He was 100% subhuman. He can't use whatever quivering blob of flesh that may reside in his skull because He Has a Job To Do, and that is to Tow Cars. So $120 later (Visa, Mastercard, or check), this parasite has "released" my personal property.
Nevermind that he's a PRIVATE contractor doing PUBLIC LAW enforcement. How is that right?
Nevermind that he's a bastard who has to be a man monkey not to know that I didn't deserve a ticket, that his Raison d'Etre is to tow truly parked cars! Parked means LEFT. Locked and left. Not flashers blinking and windows open.
I just want to know, Mr. GLP of Sergeant's Towing, how you sleep at night. Do you have kids? Are they PROUD of what daddy does?
On a more personal note ... I did NOT need this further push down the path of how viral, pointless, and pathetic my species can be. If it's not about MONEY or POWER, then it won't get much press time in this world. This should make us all ashamed to be human. Not surprisingly, it doesn't seem to even register on most people's radar.
I think some really smart people, the Cree, have been almost completely eradicated in the Capitalist Pursuit we call a country. (Those who are left share a reservation with the Chippewa in Colorado.)
