More in gender jockeying ...

I am always drawn to this poster/image. I think the message is important but frequently missed, ignored outright, or disparaged. Encouraging kids to find their true inner selves and energies would go a long way towards raising happier kids, or so it seems in my mind. I know my biggest source of unhappiness is always when I live and express myself according to someone else's expectation of who I am supposed to be and how I am supposed to act.(I will acknowledge that since I have no kids, it is distinctly possible that I don't know what I'm talking about!)Personally, I like people who blur these lines between genders, the boyish girls and the men in touch with their feminine sides. We ALL have both energies in us. It is easier to be tolerant of The Other when I am in touch with my own Other. So today I am celebrating the boy in me. I'm gonna go get sweaty and not care about it. I'm gonna play some basketball topless. (Just kidding. Although women going shirtless is legal where I live, natch.) Then I'm going to take a bubble bath and drink some wine. I'm not sure if that will please the Inner Boy, the Inner Girl, or both.
