^ Baking as Therapy
Like Water for Chocolate – a truly gastronomicallyorgasmic book. The story drips with the emotions of the main character (afemale cook), and those emotions are subsequently transmuted to the food sheprepares. She spills sorrow into a cake; she pours passion into a chili-heatedpork molẻ.
I think about that book a lot as I bake. Because Ifrequently bake as therapy. So as I mix batters and whip frostings, I’vefrequently done so with salt on my cheeks and lips from tears.
And I wonder later … what did I pass on to those who ate mycakes?
