This story shattered my heart into shards. These animalswere smart enough to save themselves by swimming for miles, and when theyfinally reached a levee and pulled themselves out of the floodwaters, they wereshot to death by humans.

Once again, my species sickens and disgustsme. Our priorities are so supremely screwed, I can only hope the evolutionaryblunder that we appear to be dies out quickly and succinctly.
