Staycations
It wasn't until I was in my mid-30's that I started taking my birthday off. It's part of my gift to myself each year, and I can't recommend it ENOUGH to people. It's unbelievably the Right Thing. Especially in doing for yourself.
And as of this week, I've taken off from work for the first time in over a year, and I'm just hanging out at the house. I do a little yoga. I read the paper. I run in the nature park close to my house. I drink a little wine and read a book. I watch a movie. I eventually will work on my tax return. You get the drift. I manage to mostly RELAX. In a way that Going On Vacation does not provide, because one has to Prepare For Vacation, then Pay For Vacation, then Dig Out At Work After Vacation.
As vacations go, this might be the best one I've ever had.
