Seriously ... A Wall of Glass
What is on your Must Do Before I Die List? Some things one just knows must be done before death. Like the silly movie "The Bucket List," there are things that I know I will regret if death comes for me, and I haven't done them.
I am ashamed to say that not that much leaps immediately to my mind, and I find it's hard for me to really nail down more than a few specifics. Is that indicative of a life well-lived? Or merely that I'm wildly distant and out of touch with my dreams? I fear it is the latter.
Here's my first attempt to document a few of the things that I really think I'd be sad not to achieve, in stream of consciousness order, and I candidly admit that I labored to compile this random, at-times-vapid list:
- Spend a month in an ashram.
- Write a published novel (preferably well-received, well-read, and wildly popular).
- Buy a wild mustang at BLM auction and have it broken gently for riding.
- Speak at least three languages fluently.
- Research my paternal and maternal family trees.
- Learn to (really) meditate.
- Live in a geodesic dome, preferably off the grid.
- Get a second tattoo, this time on my right forearm.
- Maintain a happy and stable marriage to my best friend.
- Knit something more than scarves.
- Make my own goat cheese.
- Foster a throwaway child.
- Make love against a wall of glass, like floor-to-ceiling windows in a hotel.
- Become certified in krav maga.
- PLAY THE PIANO
What's on your list?
