The Center for Inquiry
I recently joined my local chapter of the Center for Inquiry. It's a great organization for skeptics and other rationalists. Tonight we attended an event sponsored by the CFI, and Lawrence Krauss spoke. He's an eloquent, entertaining speaker, wizzing out statistics that depress, jokes that amuse, and probing observations that made me feel lame-brained.
I was taking notes as fast as I could while he spoke, but one quote stands out in my mind, that needed no notation. It's like a personal credo for me:
"Without science, everything is a miracle."
I have no desire or need for a religion, but more and more, the thing that comes closest to religion for me is science.
