^ Can't Consider Options???
Is it impossible for the American voter tomake an informed choice? Am I one of only three people who’ve actually LOOKEDat the positions and credentials of all the candidates? I am STUPEFIED that so fewpeople actually do this. Even people who will swear they are not platformvoters, that they will consider a candidate in all his or her details beforedeciding … no, they aren’t quite telling the truth.
I figured I had a snowball’s chance in hellof voting for McCain, but that did not stop me from checking his voting recordto confirm his stance on issues that are important to me. (He and I don’t agreeon a single thing, it appears.) I checked Obama’s record, and he and I don’tagree on everything, but we are close enough for me to feel comfortable.
I was not swayed by the slick, snarkyspeech Sarah Palin gave at the convention. She spoke well. No question thatgirl has been to Toastmasters. She was entertaining. But she is by no meansqualified enough to run this country. (Neither was George W. Bush, for thatmatter. The man has a pathetic resume! There’s a REASON the only decent jobhe’s ever had has been in politics.) I know this because I researched her. Ilooked at her work experience. I looked at what she supports and doesn’tsupport. She and I couldn't agree on even one topic. Biden, by the same gauge, is not my ideal candidate for VicePresident, either, but he has the experience I require in my top political executives, and he’snot a Jesus freak who might be inclined to foist his religious views on the country at large or a environmental rapist who can't see past the next 90 days for energy planning.
I am so deeply disappointed in my friendswho are not using their brains to sort out where their vote should go. And forall the wonderful people I have for friends, several of them just depress mewith their lame excuses for knee-jerk conservative reactions or their blaséattitudes about the obligation to vote. Think, people! Think! Don’t besheep!
And can we all just get OVER this religious litmus test? Statistically, it does not indicate anything about anything, other than a good guess as to where they might spend a Sunday morning.
